App Design and Development

The development and design of an application consists of the following steps, which are necessary to verify the project's viability.

1
Conception

The project is created to fulfill a need or facilitate an activity.

2
Definition

Designers and developers proceed to define the functionalities, duration, economic cost and complexity of the design and programming of the application.

3
Design

In this step, a preliminary design without graphics (“wireframe”) is created to be tested by a group of users. Once the final design is approved, the developer will add programming code.

Once the final design test has been passed, it will be delivered to the developer in separate files and screens to add the programming code.

4
Development

In this step, the programmer will create the operational structure and give life to the application through a programming language.

5
Publication

Once the application has passed the testing period, and all the errors have been fixed, it can be published if it meets the business requirements.

Application Classification

  • Training applications: those that allow or incite the discovery of new possibilities or encourage creativity.
  • Dependency applications: those that prevent, limit or determine our actions, creativity, ability to choose, etc.
  • Entertainment: where gaming apps are mostly framed.
  • Social interaction: aimed at interpersonal communication
  • Productivity: provide tools for solving specific tasks that require immediateness and speed to solve problems within the business and commercial sector.
  • Educational or Informative: designed and developed as information resources where access to content and search tools is prioritized through a navigation interface as simple and easy as possible.
  • Creative: they offer tools to promote literary, musical (and sound), photographic or video-graphic creativity.
  • Advertising: for commercial purposes, the vast majority are free distribution.

They can be classified as free, paid and freemium, which allows an initial free download with limited usage, and upon payment allows access to the advanced features.

The App Store classifies content by age groups of “4+, 9+, 12+ and 17+”, which may prevent users from downloading the application depending on their age.

Como ya se ha especificado en apartados anteriores su diseño y desarrollo permite diferenciar entre aplicaciones.

  • Generic: the design and programming languages are compatible with most devices.
  • Hybrids: some programming components work for all smartphones and some components work for a specific operating system.
  • Native: programmed for each distribution Market.
